Gate father has not put me off other books in this genre, but is has put me of chasing up further writings by Orson Scott Card, despite enjoying some of this other books. I felt disappointed at what I feel was his need to preach the his Church's doctrine in such a tedious was as to compromise the quality of what has otherwise been a wonderful journey. Gatefather is the third book in the Mithermages series. As such, it wraps up the story threads of the first two books nicely, but some readers might find it uns. Orson Scott Card is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and as such, all his writing is suffused with his faith. Presumably, Gatefather is the final book, but it’s not that epic. Conflicts are resolved, but anticlimactically. Conflicts are resolved, but anticlimactically. In this book, Card chose to focus instead on commentary of human nature, politics, and further fleshing out the spiritual/metaphysical aspect of his trilogy.
